Gardener's Forum Indian Fusion Evening

As you will have seen from the 2018 programme the theme for this year’s supper is Indian Fusion and this will take the form of a ‘bring and share’ supper at the Forman Hall on Saturday 24th February at 7.00 p.m. for 7.30 p.m.

As the term Indian Fusion may cause some confusion we have, as usual, drawn up a list of dishes for the evening which is shown below.  All the recipes can be found below.

Gardener's Forum Hungarian Evening

As you will have seen from the 2017 programme the theme for this year’s supper is Hungarian food and this will take the form of a ‘bring and share’ supper at the Forman Hall on Saturday 4th March at 7.30 p.m. As some members may not be familiar with Hungarian food we have drawn up a list of dishes for the evening which is shown below. All the recipes can be found below.  We would like everyone to bring one dish per couple the quantities required are shown below. Please either download or print the relevant recipes and let me know as soon as possible which dishes you are preparing as once they are allocated the recipes will be removed from the website to avoid duplication. The aim of the evening is to have a wide variety of dishes for us all to try.

Gardeners' Forum Welsh Night

Eighteen members of the Gardeners’ Forum attended the Welsh Night themed supper at the Forman Hall on, appropriately enough, the 1st March, St David’s Day.

The Forman Hall was decorated with Welsh flags and daffodils and lots of posters and a video depicting the beauty of Wales.  Welsh music, including many examples of Welsh Male Voice Choirs, provided background music to drinks before the group sat down to a feast of goats cheese and caramelised onion tart followed by Welsh cowl, chicken and leek hotpot and to round the meal off Bara Brith bread and butter pudding.

Calendar of Events for 2014

The Gardeners' Forum working party have organised a varied calendar of events for 2014.

We begin with the popular supper at the Forman Hall on the 1st March which, as it is to be held on St David's Day, will have a Welsh theme.  This will be followed by a visit to Border Organic Gardeners' Potato Day at the Kelso Showground on Sunday 2nd March followed by a pub lunch.

On the 24th May we shall hold our Safari Supper with visits to three member's homes.  This is a very popular event and is usually blessed by good weather.

Following the Harvest Festival at the Kirk on Sunday 5th October we shall hold the Harvest Supper in the Forman Hall which is open to all.

On Saturday 13th December the annual Christmas drinks party will be held at Girnwood.

Harvest Supper

The Harvest Supper was a great success and enjoyed by all.  On arrival at the Forman Hall guests were greeted by a living indoor hedge created by Tizza Plumb.  It was a stunning sight laid out on the stage complete with fungi and the Gardeners' Forum scarecrow was in place again wearing a welcome sign.

Harvest Supper

The Gardener’s Forum once again will be organising the Harvest Supper in the Forman Hall after the Harvest Thanksgiving service which is at 6.00 pm on Sunday 6th October. This will be the fourth year since we re-launched this Valley tradition. It is a great informal evening and probably the best value-for-money event for miles around.

All are welcome, including friends, family and guests, so let’s make it a record turnout this year!  Please spread the word to ensure that everybody has the date firmly on their calendars.
